I'm sorry I haven't been around for all of my ONE readers! (Thanks Miranda!!!) I've had a busy couple of weeks and will be posting more and more frequently now that I have time.
Valentine's Day truly should not be spent waiting two hours at the local PF Changs, or steakhouse or whatever place you and your special someone go. The only thing I would do would be to get too drunk at the bar ordering glass after glass of wine, waiting for 2 hours with everyone else - and finally sitting down, too full of libations to eat!
Lucky for me, I am marrying a culinary graduate. He is an excellent cook, but I usually am the ready to fire up the oven or grill to make something delicious for us. This Valentine's Day, I got a little break from my daily dinners, and he whipped up a five star dinner for us for VDay!
Starting with my wine - I have always had affections for red. I received a great bottle of Cupcake. The name is so cute, and it tastes great for little price. 9 bucks a bottle! Yum. The only downside is one too many glasses give that purple teeth look.
Moving on to the best part - the meal!

I love a good steak, and although fattier steaks give great flavor from the marblization, I love filets the most. MEDIUM RARE....minus even. There is something about that buttery melt in your mouth texture, and when seasoned right, can make anyone's day.
Topped with asparagus and a side of twice baked potato (I always add extra shredded cheese to mine) - I was in heaven. We even got creative and topped the filet with Boursin. Perfection.
